CMYK+W vs CMYK+RGBO+W
WHY 9 COLOUR?
Vibrancy & Gradients
Having a wider colour gamut allows for brighter, punchier colours. This helps when matching specific brand colours with a much higher success rate on Pantone coverage and reproducing skin tones more accurately for photograph production.
CMYK vs 9 COLOUR
CMYK is great for everyday designs, but the main distinction with 9 colour is its greater colour range and accuracy.
There is little to no difference with Black and White logos. Not every design needs 9 colour. But if you're aiming for vivid Orange & Reds, bright Greens and strong blues, the extra print channels can reproduce these more effectively.
Designs are usually created in RGB so using the new CMYK-RGBO technology allows for a closer match to what you see on screen. Screens display colours, using light, where a printer uses ink. Thats why some colours sit just outside when using CMYK.
You may have noticed when ordering printed products, whether clothing or paper products, that colours can look slightly different from how they appear on screen.
